In most counties the actual drug trials must be approved by a health authority or medical board of some kind. These tests usually involve having volunteers test the new device or drug so that its effectiveness can be tested and documented. Most of the companies testing something new will use a clinical research company. A pharmaceutical company may be experts in developing and creating new medical cures, but a clinical research company is the expert in running test trials.
